Should Jessica Simpson Apologize for “Indian Giver” Crack?
Do you think Jessica Simpson should apologize to American Indians for her “Indian giver” comment?
Well, if they’re upset—and they are—and if Jessica Simpson wants American Indians to watch her scintillating new VH1 show—and let’s be honest here, she needs every eyeball she can get—then an apology would certainly help.
Just how offensive was Simpson last week? Well, her phrasing went something like this…
During an interview with TMZ, Simpson was asked whether she wanted her ex Tony Romo to return a pricy boat she’d bought him. She replied, “I’m not an Indian giver.
Kara DioGuardi returning as ‘American Idol’ judge
NEW YORK – The Fox network says Kara DioGuardi (KA’-ruh dee-oh-GWAHR’-dee) who joined the hit Fox television show American Idol as a fourth Judge for the show’s eighth season (January 13, 2009) will be back for her second round as a judge on “American Idol.” The Grammy-nominated songwriter joined original panelists Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul.
She has had Idol connections in the past: in 2000, DioGuardi and fellow Idol judge Paula Abdul co-wrote the UK number-one single “Spinning Around”, performed by Kylie Minogue. She has written many songs sung by Idol winners and alumni such as Kelly Clarkson, David Archuleta, Carrie Underwood, Diana DeGarmo, and Katharine McPhee.
Radio show axed over rape furore
An Australian radio show has been pulled off air after a lie detector stunt saw a 14-year-old girl confess she had been raped.
The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Sydney’s 2Day FM was put “into recess” pending a review over the incident last week.
The move follows public outrage over the segment, which saw the girl quizzed about whether she was sexually active.
Host Kyle Sandilands has also been sacked from his role as a judge on Australian Idol over the row.
The radio show saw the girl strapped to a polygraph machine as her mother - who had volunteered to be on air - quizzed her despite apparently knowing she had been assaulted when she was 12 years old.

Sandler’s ‘Funny People’ wins weekend with $23.4M
Universal Pictures’ “Funny People,” with Sandler trading adolescent humor for an adult story about a terminally ill comedy star, debuted as the top weekend movie with $23.4 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.
It was a modest weekend for Hollywood, with the shadow of last summer’s juggernaut “The Dark Knight” hanging over the current blockbuster season. Overall summer revenues, which had been running ahead of last year’s since early May, dipped below those of 2008, when “The Dark Knight” was packing theaters for weeks on end.
“It’s staggering how strong ‘The Dark Knight’ was last year. At this point last year, ‘The Dark Knight’ had added nearly $400 million to the summer box office. How can you compete with that?” said Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com.
