She is Benazir Bhutto, the first woman who success roled as a prime minister in a moslem state, Pakistan. She was murdered by a shooter who then committed a suicide using bomb. Well, she has gone but I think let’s find out more about her success as a politician.

Benazir Bhutto was a Pakistani politician who chaired the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a center-left political party in Pakistan affiliated to the Socialist International. Bhutto was the first woman elected to lead a Muslim state, having been twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan.

She is the youngest of fourteen children born to Adhémar Dion and Thérèse Tanguay, and was raised a Roman Catholic in a poverty-stricken, but, by her own account, happy, home in Charlemagne. Music had always been a part of the family, as she grew up singing with her siblings in her parents’ small piano bar called ‘Le Vieux Baril.’ From an early age Dion had dreamed of being a performer; In a 1994 interview with People magazine, she recalled, “I missed my family and my home, but I don’t regret having lost my adolescence. I had one dream: I wanted to be a singer.”

She was Julie Roberts (born October 28, 1967), mocked for her string-bean physique, thick glasses, and toothy grin. Her parents divorced when she was in kindergarten, and her father died when she was 10. In adolescence she switched to contact lenses and bloomed to beautiful, and to match her new look she asked friends to call her “Julia” instead of “Julie”. After high school, she moved to New York and spent a few years modeling, selling shoes, and working at an ice cream stand. At 19, she landed her first film role, a tiny part in a raunchy R-rated comedy of sexual harassment, Firehouse. Well, it took a long year to make her just like nowadays.

The scandal between her hubby (Bill Clinton) and his secretary (Monica Lewinsky) doesn’t make her struggle for her career in political down. Events surrounding the Lewinsky scandal eventually led to the impeachment of Bill Clinton. When the allegations against her husband were first made public, Hillary Clinton stated that they were the result of a “vast right-wing conspiracy characterizing the Lewinsky charges as the latest in a long, organized, collaborative series of charges by Clinton political enemies, rather than any wrongdoing by her husband. She defended her husband. Now, she is the junior United States Senator from New York, and a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election. Yup, you can be wealth if you marry a rich-old man, but it doesn’t mean that you will success during your life. Believe it or not, you also can be success also wealth only with strong effort. Check out the story of success that Oprah Winfrey has made.

Oprah Winfrey (originally Orpah after the Biblical character), was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to a Baptist family. Her parents were unmarried teenagers. Her mother, Vernita Lee, was a housemaid, and her father, Vernon Winfrey, was a coal miner and later worked as a barber before becoming a city councilman. From age six to 13, she lived in Milwaukee with her mother. After suffering abuse and molestation, she ran away and was sent to a juvenile detention home at the age of 13, only to be denied admission because all the beds were filled. As a last resort, she was sent to Nashville to live under her father’s (Vernon Winfrey) strict discipline. “As strict as he was,” says Oprah, “he had some concerns about me making the best of my life, and would not accept anything less than what he thought was my best.”

Aung San Suu Kyi: Woman to Uphold Democracy

aung_sa_suu_kyi_001.jpgBeing in jail for many years doesn’t make a woman like Aung San Suu Kyi stop her political will to uphold democracy in Myanmar. Here is what she said about democracy:

If you look at the democratic process as a game of chess, there have to be many, many moves before you get to checkmate. And simply because you do not make any checkmate in three moves does not mean it is stalemate. There’s a vast difference between no checkmate and stalemate. This is what the democratic process is like.

By her statement, we can directly recognize her as a democrat upholder. This is right and she is currently under detention, with the Myanmar government repeatedly extending her detention because of her acts. According to the results of the 1990 general election, Suu Kyi earned the right to be Prime Minister, as leader of the winning National League for Democracy party, but her detention by the military junta prevented her from assuming that role.
